2021 Shradh is performed for the peace of the ancestors’ souls and for their offerings. The meaning of Shradh here is to show respect to one’s ancestors with reverence. In Shradh Paksha, respect is given to their ancestors for a period of 15 days at a particular time. This period is called Pitru Paksha i.e. Shraddha Paksha.
According to Vedic astrology, Pitru Paksha is celebrated when the Sun enters the Virgo sign. For the peace of the souls of ancestors, Tarpan and Pind Daan are considered best in Pitru Paksha.
In the modern era, as soon as the name of Shradh comes, it is often called superstition. The question is whether the food fed to Brahmins during the period of Shradh goes to the ancestors? In this age of nuclear families, many children do not even know the names of their grandparents. In such a situation, there is no point in asking the name of great-grandfather or great-grandfather. It is very important to understand the importance of Shradh if you want the family name to last for generations to come.
There is a proper purpose of Shradh Karma, which has been linked to the religious act. Actually, Shradh introduces the coming child to their ancestors. During these 15 days, those departed souls are remembered due to whom the family tree stands.
