IMPORTANCE OF MILK

For centuries, milk has been used in beverages and foods. Female mammals are accountable for milk production. Cows, buffaloes, goats, and sheep provide milk to humans.

It is primarily ingested by mammals throughout their infancy. In the case of humans, however, it is usually consumed in adulthood also since most adult humans can digest the lactose in milk.

Milk isn’t only for drinking purposes.  It is an essential element of dairy products like butter, milk, ice cream, lassi, and cheese. Milk may also be used as an ingredient in other meals. It is used in a variety of desserts and other dishes.

HEALTH REWARDS OF MILK

Milk is high in nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus, Vitamin B, potassium, and vitamin D. It also is a high-protein food. Drinking milk and dairy products can keep you from getting osteoporosis and bone fractures, as well as maintain a healthy weight.

A normal glass of milk is able to provide you with:

  • Calcium content around 29%.
  • Vitamin D content around 25%
  • Phosphorus content around 23%.
  • Riboflavin content around 23%.
  • Vitamin B-12 content around 15%
  • Protein content around 17%

CONTROVERSIES

The World Milk Day celebrations have faced a few controversies over the previous decades. Some people are against the consumption of Milk. It is due to the logic that states how humans subject milk-producing animals to cruelty.

According to reports, the dairy industry also leads to a rise in the greenhouse gas impact, which further harms the earth. This is due to the fact that cow milk necessitates a greater use of land and water. According to a survey, cow milk consumes more energy and emits more greenhouse gases than plant-based milk.

However, it is quite correct to say that milk has an irreplaceable part in our lives. World Milk Day provides us with an opportunity to embrace the relevance of Milk and Diary in our lives. During these challenging and trying times due to the coronavirus epidemic, we should all commemorate this day by distributing milk packets to people in need who are incapable to obtain these necessities.
